We are saddened to inform you that U.S.- Brazil Chamber of Commerce has had to stop operations, and will no longer be hosting breakfasts or other events.
Being a non-profit institution, we believe that the chamber owes you, the public, an explanation as to why it has shut down.
As some of you know, the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida, which has operated for many years, had their attorneys send the U.S.-Brazil Chamber of Commerce a letter requesting that the chamber change its name.
Given the amount of funds and effort that had been expanded by the U.S.-Brazil Chamber of Commerce to grow as an institution under the U.S.-Brazil Chamber of Commerce name, and the enormous expenses it would mean to change the chambers’s name at this point, and given the expense it would mean to start a legal battle with the Brazilian American Chamber of Florida, the U.S.-Brazil Chamber of Commerce has been forced to stop its activities.
We feel it is very unfortunate that this happened among two organizations that should be looking out for the best interest of the Brazilian and American communities in the US and the economic development of both countries.
However, we were not able to find a better solution that would be satisfactory to all sides.
We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Thank you for your support and trust.
